Since we came back from Canada, we had been staying in Wilby Residences @ Bukit Timah. Though inaccessible, the shuttle bus provided by the serviced apartment well made up for it. Baby E and I pretty much settled into a daily routine of morning walks in town, and occasional evening walks around the estate. We enjoyed the last few months so much we literally missed the clean and spacious apartment once we checked out.
We have intended to be back in Singapore for only 1 month, to make the transition to go to London, UK for J’s 2nd Spine Fellowship. As of January 2014, both our properties were still tenanted. Also, short term rental lease in Singapore is usually for a minimum of 6 months (although 1 month rental lease is existent too but extremely rare). Hence, the only choice for us was to stay in a serviced apartment for that one month. By God’s will, our London trip has been deferred (read: http://wp.me/p48223-iP), resulting in us staying in Wilby for a further couple of months.
A subsidiary of Tan Chong International, Wilby Estate International boasts of well-founded experience in serviced apartment management for 30 years and counting. With its team of dedicated and experienced professionals driving Wilby Estate International, residents here can be assured of exceptional service and support, always.
The apartment provides good facilities such as a well-maintained swimming pool, a well-equipped gym, proficient housekeeping services thrice weekly (on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays for us), a safe and clean environment for its residents (regular fogging and appliance maintenance), prompt and professional concierge, and well-furnished suites.
On top of these, what tipped the scale for us was some of Wilby’s staff who really made the difference. Uncle Raymond who drives the morning shift of the shuttle bus service, is a kind BFG (big friendly giant) who goes the extra mile for his passengers. He has been very helpful to us during our stay at Wilby. Baby E loves him!
Many multi-national friendships were also fostered over the last few months as Baby E and I went about our daily activities. We want to remember Katja and her daughter Ayko who just turned 4. They are from Zuienkerke, Belgium. Ingrid and her 5 yo daughter Xanlea from South Africa; Alex and Alan from Melbourne, Australia; Jenny, Susan and Jennifer from the UK; Samantha from Ontario, Canada; and a Japanese lady who carries her 2 yo son (always saying “no, no, no” to strangers) in a baby carrier everywhere she goes. They have returned to Tokyo, Japan on 30 April 2014.
Wilby Residences was Baby E’s temporary home in Singapore, and that alone is a memory that ought to be cherished. Baby E and I would take the shuttle bus to different places in Singapore for our morning walks (read: http://wp.me/p48223-jU), come back home to shower, have lunch, play and nap! One of our favourite things to do together is reading in the balcony, as we overlooked the Cascadia condominium and the Grandstand in the distance.
We will not hesitate to return to Wilby Residences @ Bukit Timah if there comes a need in the future. We highly recommend it to anyone who is looking for a serviced apartment, either for short-term or long-term stay (there are tenants who have stayed in Wilby for 20 years), or even anyone who needs a roof over their heads while their house is being renovated.
