Today was Mum’s last day of her stay with us. For the past 10 days, it has been such a great blessing to all of us. For Elizabeth, she got to play with her 嬷嬷 and experienced so much stimulation from her various innovative games, new songs and cold fruits to hold to chase away her sleepiness during meal times. For J, he got to spend quality time with Mum, whom he loves so much. Although he was busy, he made it a priority to always spend time with Mum at night when he came home. It makes him super happy that Mum is here with us. For me, Mum has blessed me the most by relieving me from being physically present with Elizabeth 24/7. In fact, throughout her entire stay with us, Mum has provided for Baby E and me all the way, from the simple meals, to our comprehensive care. Because of Mum, I had the chance to go to the gym! enjoy a cold shower or moving my bowels without having to worry about Baby E; I also finally had my eyebrows shaped and trimmed after 1 whole year!
In addition, there was a day when Mum took care of Baby E for 2 hrs as I drove out to meet a friend in need. It was my first time in Singapore not having my “sidekick” with me. Though it was only a 8 min drive away from our home, it felt like so long, sometimes I think I am the one who has separation anxiety. Thanks to Mum for giving me the opportunity to drive alone, I felt so young and free like I used to be! But funnily, that one experience is more than enough for me, as I learnt that without Elizabeth near me, I just can’t help missing her!
There were also times when I drove out, with Baby E in her rear-facing car seat and Mum taking care of her at the back seat. This meant I could enjoy driving without worrying – knowing that everything was alright behind. What bliss!
While Mum was here, we brought her to our favourite food joints! After many years of not having fast food, I ate Mos Burger and Popeyes with her 3 days out of 10! I may begin indulging in fast food once in a while!
On the last Sunday of Mum’s stay with us, J drove us all to the Sengkang-Punggol district for a walk-a-jog along the park connectors. We ended up in Punggol Waterway Park, and walked a distance to Punggol MRT Station where we eventually took a cab back to our car which was parked at Seng Kang Riverside Park where we started. All in all, it was a great workout! We finished our day with a healthy dinner at Cedele @ Greenwich that day.
Now that Mum has returned to Penang, we missed her so very much! Looks like we will take a few days to resume our daily routine…
