The Little Ones Club 02112014

Today was the day of the Singapore Airlines Charity Run 2014. J’s category began at 7.00 am and he finished the 10 km under 60 min, rushed back home with a swollen knee and he could barely walk well for the rest of the day. At the 6 km mark, his old knee injury flared up and became inflamed again. Despite his injury, J came with us to church! He wasn’t about to allow the injury to steal away quality time for his day.

While J stayed in the crèche for the usual worship service, E and I headed up to Sanctuary 2 for the Little Ones Club. The children were led to sing songs of worship and praise to The Lord. We sang “The BIBLE”, “Deep and Wide”, “God is so good”, and action-packed songs like “I’m Inward, Outward, Upward, Downward Happy All the Time” on fast forward mode. 😉

Then came offering time, where all the children gathered around the doll-like container to slot in their tithe. E was very serious and focused when she attempted to give her offering, although she did change her mind later, and walked away with the dollar note still clasped tightly in her right hand. So the teachers hurried on, and suggested to let her take her time later on…

… because it was Bible story time! Teacher Karen talked about some of the feelings we can have, using placards that have a picture drawn on one side, and the feeling written on its flipside.

Clockwise from top left: “Disbelief”, “”Shameful”, “Amazed”, “Sad”, “Fear” and “Joy”.

Teacher Karen went on to find out how each child felt this morning. I remembered Caleb said he was angry even though he was grinning from ear to ear… Haha! His anger must have given way to joy at the Little Ones Club!

The Bible story today was excerpted from the gospel account where “Jesus Appears to Thomas” in John 20:24-29. As Karen recited the encounter, she used the cards to express the types of feelings that might have been experienced by Thomas before and after he saw Jesus within the locked doors of the room where all the disciples gathered. The story of “Doubting Thomas” closed with Teacher Karen asking the children if they believed the account that she just narrated to them – that Jesus died and rose again, and appeared to the disciples at various occasions, and that He is still living today. What a relief to hear them say, “YES! I believe!” Indeed, as it is written, “Then Jesus told him, “Because you have seen Me, you have believed; blessed are those who have not seen and yet have believed.”” (‭John‬ ‭20‬:‭29‬ NIV)

During Arts & Craft session, the children were given a coloring page and instructed to fill the hidden word with their favorite colors. E naturally picked up a pink color pencil and tried her hand at coloring… Hee! She ended up doodling… So I gave her a hand to complete J out of “JOY” (pun intended)!

E learnt the virtue of lending a helping hand, so she lent hers to Sarah and Jeremy, the trio completed a beautiful work that ought to be framed. 🙂

The eventful Little Ones Club came to a close with a prayer for these blessed little tots, followed by keeping away all the color pencils.

Then we scurried down and found Daddy J outside the crèche with Pastor Eddy, Aunty Jessie and Elder Chia. We all chatted for some time until our sweet darling turned into a clingy koala. That was the signal for us to get going… We figured that she must have been exhausted by all the interesting activities organized by The Little Ones Club this morning.

See?! The Yawn of the Year award would have been consigned to her if it existed…

See?! What a big yawn?!

Have a blessed week! The Lord be blessed forever and ever!
