The Day I Became the Wife of a Professor

Today, J was invited to accept the appointment as Adjunct Assistant Professor in the Department of Orthopaedic Surgery, Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine, National University of Singapore. We were overjoyed!

Invitation letter to be A/Prof

Our hearts were overflowing with thankfulness to the One who gives His blessings. Within a year of our return from Calgary, AB, Canada, J has been promoted from Associate Consultant to Consultant. God’s blessings did not stop there, The Lord rewarded J for his diligence and time contributed to undergraduate medical training of the medical students and his juniors by conferring the A/Prof honorific to him. J has also been promoted to be the Deputy Head of the Department of Orthopaedic Surgery in Khoo Teck Puat Hospital. Hallelujah!

In J’s own words, he accounted his achievements to God who was ever so gracious to him. It is God who has given these blessings to him. The credit is not his to claim, all glory be to God alone.

For me, I am thankful that my husband truly enjoys his work, be it clinical or surgical. On top of that, he has a flair for teaching too. With his presentation skills, if he did not become a surgeon, he would have been a very good teacher, or salesman! 😉 Most importantly, I am blessed to see J gives God the glory and praises Him for His goodness in Spirit and in Truth.

Looking back in our timeline, we can’t help but notice the hand of God in our lives, leading us in His way. If God had not closed the door to J’s second HMDP fellowship training in London, UK, which was supposed to be right after Canada’s, we would still be in London right now. We would have missed out on these blessings upon J.

O’ Loving Heavenly Father, Thou art the Great Physician. Thou art the One who brings healing. Thou art the One who has full control over life and death. In the same way that J uses the scalpel as an instrument during surgery, may You continue to let J sees himself as an instrument in Your hand. Though he may be the one performing the operations, but You are the One who guides him every day.

May Thou continue to guide J and his team with wisdom from above and grant exceptional skills to their minds and hands who minister in Thine Name. May Thou restore his patients to soundness of health without complications as they entrust their conditions and lives to him. For we know You bring relief and cure by working in and through medical professionals like J and his team of dedicated colleagues. So may You bless both the medical professionals and their patients.

It is with great joy and deep heartfelt thanksgiving we bring to You for Your glory. For You alone are worth it. You alone deserve all our worship and praise. Thank You so much for blessing J. Through his life, may many be touched by seeing Your gracious hand upon him, that they may come to know You and receive Your saving knowledge of Truth. May You continue to use J, as You have purposed for Your glory and for Thy name’s sake.

I pray these in the precious and holy name of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. Amen.
